THE BEGINNINGS
With a creative background in art, textiles, merchandising and buying, combined with making a home for a young family, Rose Cottage Boxes came about from a mum-at-home/designer wanting to make original home furnishings and to jazz-up practical items around the house. It all started with decoupaging lampshades, hangers and childrens furniture, (most things we could get our hands on really!) and then a chance meeting with a carpenter and a fellow decoupagist, set some fab ideas in motion and eventually Rose Cottage Boxes was born.
THE DESIGNS
Rose Cottage Boxes designs include everything from a wide range of fabulous floral papers - rose, peony, daisy, tulips, poppy.. (incompassing a handpainted look to Liberty-esque) as well as our highly popular birds, retro and kitsh genres. We regularly feature themes of feminine, exotic, funky and vintage, with hearts and bright Morrocan inspired patterns. Hand made in Somerset each box is effortlessly pretty and beautiful on the outside and is stunningly complimented by its handpainted interior in one of many sweetie-shop colours, to enhance and complete the look.
BY HAND
A Rose Cottage Box happily instills a sense of British handcrafted individuality, that amongst a world of mass produced, cheap overseas items can be a blessing to find. We believe a handmade product can inject originality into ones chosen surroundings with out comprimising quality, ones taste, or having to cost the earth. Our recently sourced Rose Cottage Boxes designs tie in very nicely to current interior trends as well as our more quirky, one-off boxes.
THE OFFICE
Working from the family cottage in a small village on the outskirts of Bath, Somerset, Rose Cottage Boxes has a tiny outlay of help (Mother-in-law, box-making-man, school-girl-round the-corner and dear friends.) We produce the boxes, paint, varnish, source papers and chew over ideas for our future. We currently sell to independant retailers and to the general public and have a loyal base of customers who have bought into the Rose Cottage Boxes collection.
We try our hardest to produce pretty things with as little negative impact to our planet as possible. Therefore our wood is sustainably sourced. Paper coverings used are also bio-degradable, bleached without chlorine and use water based colours where at all possible.
We re-use and recycle packaging and recycle scrap materials as often as we can and our leaflets and literature are printed on recycled paper.
